The Lu’ an Hospital of Anhui Medical University (Lu’ an People’s Hospital of Anhui Province), founded in 1949, is a Grade III Class A comprehensive public hospital integrating medical care, teaching, research, emergency care, prevention, healthcare, and rehabilitation. Lu’ an People’s Hospital of Anhui Province is located in Lu’ an, a city in western Anhui known for both its rich cultural heritage and ecological environment. The hospital serves a population of over five million people in the western Anhui. As a regional medical center, under the leadership of Party Secretary JIN Ping and President WANG Qiwei, the hospital has consistently adhered to a people-centered approach. With the goal of establishing a modern hospital management system, it has continuously optimized healthcare reform indicators, strengthened discipline development, and enhanced service capacity. Through a series of institutional reforms and internal management improvements, the hospital is steadily advancing toward a modern governance model and achieving sustainable, high-quality development. The Department of Orthopedics at Lu’ an People’s Hospital of Anhui Province is one of the earliest orthopedic departments established in prefecture-level hospitals in Anhui Province. The department has not only strengthened collaborations with leading domestic hospitals to build a solid foundation for development, but has also actively built international platforms to provide its key physicians with more opportunities for professional development. In March and April this year, four key orthopedic physicians were successively selected to undertake three-month fellowship in Göttingen, Berlin, and Erlangen, Germany, to engage with cutting-edge international medical practices. Doctor WU Mingfan, Deputy Director of the Department of Orthopedics Ward V, joined the team of Prof. Lehmann on April 27. Prof. Lehmann is the President-elect of the German Trauma Society(DGU) for 2027 and Director of the Department of Trauma Surgery, Orthopedics and Plastic Surgery at the University Medical Center Göttingen. Doctor Wu is undertaking systematic training in advanced concepts and techniques in trauma surgery. Doctor WANG Daode, Deputy Director of the Department of Orthopedics Ward IV (Hand and Foot Surgery), also arrived at the University Medical Center Göttingen on April 27 for the training in foot and ankle surgery. He is training under Dr. Stinus, a senior consultant in foot and ankle surgery, a leading expert in the Scarf osteotomy technique in Germany, and Chief Medical Officer of the German delegation for the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympics. Doctor TANG Junfeng, from the Department of Orthopedics Ward II(Joint Surgery), began his fellowship on March 5 at the Martin Luther Hospital in Berlin, training under Prof. Petersen, the Director of the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology and Deputy Medical Director of Martin Luther Hospital. Prof. Petersen also serves as the Vice President of the German-Austrian-Swiss Society for Orthopaedic-Traumatological Sports Medicine (GOTS) and the Former President of the German Knee Society (DKG). Doctor DAI Wenjie, from the the Department of Orthopedics Ward I(Spine Surgery), arrived on April 2 at the Interdisciplinary Center for Spine and Scoliosis Therapy of the Malteser Waldkrankenhaus St. Marien. Under the guidance of Dr. Schnake, Director of the Center, he is advancing his expertise in spinal surgery. Dr. Schnake is the President of the German Spine Society (DWG) for 2026 and is one of only 23 surgeons in Germany who have been awarded the Excellence Certificate from DWG. The strategy of cultivating internationally oriented medical talent is not only a key practice for the hospital’s advancement toward higher-level healthcare institutions, but also an important opportunity for physicians’ professional growth. By continuously “going global,” the hospital is absorbing advanced international concepts and technologies, promoting the development of high-level medical platforms, which allows more patients to benefit from higher-quality, more precise, and more human-centered medical services. Looking ahead, the hospital will continue to promote mutual exchanges and complementarity in talents and technologies between both sides, share the achievements of medical advancement, and jointly enhance healthcare service capacity and standards in both regions and countries, ultimately benefiting the people. Simplicity in principle, diligence in practice; a long journey requires sustained effort. Lu’ an People’s Hospital of Anhui Province is moving forward with determination and practical action toward the goal of becoming a modern hospital.
