Bone plays a vital role in human activity and health. Only with healthy bones can a person avoid the problems of orthopedic diseases and have a perfect and happy life. With the advent of an aging society and the rapid development of industry and transportation, the amount of orthopedic patients have increased significantly, especially in critical patients. More than 40 million people in China receive orthopedic treatment every year.
Development of China’s Orthopedics
From the beginning of the 20th century, the orthopedics in China is still in its infancy in China, and only a few cities has developed its orthopedics. A group of medical students who have studied abroad have returned to China, and they have introduced western orthopedic medical technology into the China. Many predecessors worked together to establish orthopedics of western medicine in the land of China, filling the gap.
The first orthopedic specialty was established in 1921, the Department of Surgery of Peking Union Medical College Hospital established the first western medical orthopedics group to perform operations such as fracture treatment, deformity correction and arthroplasty. Its establishment marked the beginning of orthopedics surgery in China as an independent specialty.
Around the 1960s, China was ahead of international level in the surgical treatment of bone and joint tuberculosis, the treatment of fractures in the combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine and the replantation of broken limbs (finger). There were also great progressin traumatic first aid, anti-shock, anti-infection and wound treatment.
In the 1970s and 1980s, China made outstanding achievements in basic theoretical researches in orthopedics, bone tumors, microsurgery and artificial joint replacement.
Since the 1980s, the level of clinical diagnosis, treatment and basic research in orthopedics in China have been greatly improved. There were many breakthroughs in many uncurable diseases, and a series of mature treatments have been developed.
Orthopedics covers a wide range. Surgery is its focus, and experts are the core assets. In this special discipline, the intensive technical and practical development due to the large amount of operations makes it necessary for orthopedic surgeons to learn for life without being slack in order to keep up with the development of orthopedics.
Strategic Development of Gloryren

In the environment where the resources of orthopedic experts are scarce, Gloryren has signed contract with internationally renowned orthopedic surgeons to become their sole authorized partner in China and the only official strategic partner of internationally renowned orthopedic hospitals.
About orthopedics, we are serious
After many procedures and processes, The People's Hospital of Jiangmen welcomed international expert as visiting professors for the first time. The international expert in this academic exchange is Daniel Rosenthal. Professor Rosenthal exchange for two weeks at The People's Hospital ofJiangmen, which brought valuable technical and conceptual experience to the hospital.
It could still be remembered that when Gloryren conveyed the idea of international visiting professor to the leadership of the hospital, everyone felt that impossible. It sounded impossible that primary hospitals could be connected with international experts.
After repeated consultations, many meetings and discussions, finally, the leaders of the hospital decided to become a cooperation unit with Gloryren to take in international experts.
After the two-week academic exchange, at the conclusion meeting, Director Yizhong Lin of the Second Department of Orthopedics said that the academic exchanges were very beneficial. Professor Rosenthal gave medical staff of the The People’s Hospital of Jiangmen’s Orthopedics Surgery Department a lot of help from treatment concept to microscopic techniques.

Professor Rosenthal is patient-centered at the choosing of treatment plan, hoping to minimize patients’ suffering and accelerate recovery within the patient's financial ability. Secondly, the professor's concept of "minimally invasive" is different from that in China. Minimally invasive refers to fine operation under the microscope with emphasis on application to reduce the spinal cord and nerve damage of patients, rather than simply emphasizing small incisions.

This year, Peking University People's Hospital celebrates its centenary celebration. The hospital has employed Professor Markus Walther, director of the Department of Foot and Ankle Surgery at Schön Klinik Munich Harlaching as visiting professor.
In the future next six months to one year, the above hospitals will welcome international visiting professors to their hospitals for a 1-2 week academic exchange, including but not limited to academic lectures, case discussions, surgical guidance and surgical practice.
