On the last day of May 2026, Gloryren received a special payment from the International Talent Development Program of Zhongshan City People’s Hospital. It was truly a payment of extraordinary significance. The year 2026 marks the 160th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the Founding Father of modern China. The Sun Yat-sen Foundation has partnered with Zhongshan City People’s Hospital to implement the Yat-sen Medical Talent Development Program. Under this initiative, the Foundation will donate a total of RMB 35 million over a ten-year period from 2026 to 2035, providing RMB 3.5 million annually to support the cultivation of medical leaders and outstanding specialists with an international perspective, cutting-edge expertise, and cross-cultural communication skills. For us, this is the most meaningful project we have undertaken in 2026. For thousands of years, China remained a feudal society. Dr. Sun Yat-sen launched the Xinhai Revolution, which profoundly changed the course of Chinese history. In 1912, he established the first democratic republic in China. He also introduced the Three Principles of the People-- nationalism, democracy, and people’s welfare. His best-known sixteen-character revolutionary slogan reads: “Expel the Manchus, restore China, establish the Republic, and equalize land ownership.” In May 2026, Zhongshan City People’s Hospital selected 6 outstanding young physicians to undertake three-month academic fellowships in Germany. Remarkably, after just two weeks, all six physicians had received their invitations, and their fellowships are scheduled to begin in this September. Dr. Zhang from the Department of Respiratory Medicine will undertake academic exchange at Thoraxklinik Heidelberg, where he will study under the guidance of Prof. Herth, Medical Director of the hospital. Dr. Wen from the Department of Anesthesiology will visit the Department of Intensive Care Medicine and Intermediate Care at RWTH Aachen University Hospital, where she will participate in academic exchange under the supervision of Prof. Marx, Director of the department and President of the German Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine. Dr. Zhang from the Department of Orthopaedics will undertake an fellowship at OCM(Orthopädische Chirurgie München), benefiting from the outstanding academic platform established by Prof. Hube, the hospital’s founder and Director of the Joint Replacement Center. Dr. Wen from the Department of Cardiology will visit the Department of Cardiology at Heidelberg University Hospital, where she will study under the leadership of Prof. Frey, Director of the department and President-Elect of the German Cardiac Society. Chief Physician Doctor Li from the Department of Pediatrics will undertake academic exchange at RWTH Aachen University Hospital, where she will study with the team led by Prof. Kontny, Director of the Center for Pediatric hematology, oncology and stem cell transplantation. Dr. Li from the Department of Urology will visit University Hospital Rechts der Isar Munich of the Technical University Munich, where he will conduct academic exchange with the team led by Prof. Gschwend, Director of the Department of Urology and Former President of the German Society of Urology. Supported by the Sun Yat-sen Foundation, these six outstanding young physicians will undertake in-depth academic exchange with W3-level key academic leaders at renowned German university hospitals. This fellowship program is expected to further improve the hospital’s pathway for cultivating internationally oriented high-level medical professionals, enhance its capacity for clinical research and innovation as well as overall disciplinary development, and strengthen Sino-German cooperation in medical education and clinical practice. It will also provide sustained momentum for the high-quality development of healthcare services in Zhongshan and the Guangdong-Hongkong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
