From November 28 to 30, the 2025 Guangdong Provincial Biophysics Academic Conference and the 10th Member Representative Congress, sponsored by the Guangdong Biophysical Society and co-organized by South China Normal University and other institutions, was successfully held in Foshan, Guangdong Province. With the theme “Frontiers in Biophysics and Clinical Translation,” the conference attracted nearly 400 experts and scholars, who engaged in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics including biomedical imaging, nanotechnology, and tissue engineering.

New Members’ Board Inaugurated to Lead Integrated Development

The opening ceremony was chaired by Prof. YANG Sihua of South China Normal University, with leaders from the Guangdong Association for Science and Technology in attendance to deliver opening remarks. During the concurrent 10th Member Representative Congress, a new members’ board was elected, with Prof. YANG Sihua appointed as President of the Society. Prof. HU Jun from The First Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College was elected as a Standing Member of the Board. He also delivered an invited academic lecture entitled “Exploratory Applications of Photoacoustic Imaging in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Musculoskeletal System Diseases,” sharing forward-looking concepts in precision medicine.
Recipient of the Society’s Highest Scientific and Technological Award
Following a rigorous pre-conference evaluation process, the project “Medical-Engineering Integrated Innovation and Clinical Translation of a Precision Diagnosis and Treatment System for Bone and Joint Diseases,” led by Prof. HU Jun, was awarded the First Prize of the 2025 Guangdong Biophysical Society Science and Technology Award. This award represents strong recognition of the team’s outstanding achievements in medical-engineering integration, clinical translation, and technological innovation, and highlights their leading position in this field.
Graduate Student Awarded in Student Session

The conference also featured a “Student Flash Presentation” session, during which nearly 30 young scholars presented their research on topics such as photoacoustic imaging and neuromodulation. After on-site evaluation by the judging panel, LI Ruihuan, a second-year master’s student from Prof. HU Jun’s research team, was honored with the Outstanding Student Academic Presentation Award for his excellent performance.
Overall, the conference comprehensively showcased the innovation capacity and development potential of Guangdong in the interdisciplinary fields of biophysics and medical-engineering integration.
