6月17日,慕尼黑大学附属医院胸外科主任、美国外科学院院士Hatz教授抵达苏北人民医院,开启他在该院的第二次客座教授访问。这是医院持续推动国际化发展、深化中德医学合作的重要一步,也为胸外科的青年人才培养和技术提升注入了新的活力。到院当天,党委书记束余声、开发区分院院长徐捷、胸外科主任陆世春等为Hatz教授举办欢迎仪式,并陪同Hatz教授参观了开发区分院。Hatz教授对现代化的就医环境、高端先进的设备配置以及合理高效的布局设计给予了积极评价,认为医院的整体理念与国际前沿高度接轨,展现出区域医疗中心的实力与潜力。自2024年共建中德胸外科交流中心以来,苏北人民医院胸外科在国际合作、技术引进、人才交流方面取得了显著进展。陆世春主任现场汇报了交流中心一年来的发展成效,束余声书记也对双方合作成果表示肯定,期待持续深化协作,共同打造高水平国际合作平台。在为期一周的访问中,Hatz教授参与了胸外科专家门诊、手术带教、肺癌多学科讨论等临床活动,并为苏北人民医院大外科的全体住院医生带来一堂主题为职业生涯规划的讲座。他结合自己数十年的从医生涯,鼓励年轻医生尽早思考职业路径,注重专业素养与国际视野的双重提升。在周六举行的“第二届精准微创技术在胸外科临床应用学习班”中,Hatz教授围绕胸外科手术质量与安全进行授课,强调ERAS加速康复理念、抗生素管理、临床信息电子化、标准化诊疗中心建设在现代胸外科体系中的关键作用。与会的各专家一致表示受益匪浅,充分感受到Hatz教授深厚的专业底蕴与严谨的学术精神。在与该院医护交流中,Hatz教授也多次提到对青年医生成长的关注。他欣喜地分享,今年他指导的两位中国在读博士生均成功获得国家留学基金委奖学金,这让他回忆起自己早年受德国科学基金会资助在哈佛大学从事博士后研究的经历。他强调,对于外科医生来说,具备国际视野和科研思维,是临床能力之外不可或缺的素质。他鼓励青年医生提升语言能力、积极参与国际交流,把职业发展与对病人的责任感结合起来,而不仅仅以晋升作为目标。Hatz教授以高水平的专业能力、平易近人的人格魅力和对医学教育事业的真挚热情,赢得了苏北人民医院胸外科团队以及众多参会专家的由衷敬佩。他的到来不仅带来了先进理念与国际经验,更激发了医院上下对医学教育、科研发展、临床质量提升的深度思考。而苏北人民医院也将以此为契机,持续加强国际合作、打造高水平的胸外科平台,在开放交流中不断前行,为推动中国胸外科发展作出新的贡献。
On June 17th, Prof. Hatz, Director of Thoracic Surgery, University Hospital of Munich, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons arrived at Northern Jiangsu People’s Hospital for his second visit as a visiting professor. This visit marked an important step in the hospital’s continuous efforts to promote international development and deepened Sino-German medical cooperation, bringing new inspiration to the talent cultivation and expertise improvement in thoracic surgery. Upon his arrival, Prof. Hatz was welcomed by SHU Yusheng, Secretary of the Party Committee of Northern Jiangsu People’s Hospital, XU Jie, President of the Development Zone Branch of Northern Jiangsu People’s Hospital, LU Shichun, Director of the Dept. of Thoracic Surgery and others, and had a tour of the Development Zone Branch. Prof. Hatz highly acknowledged the modern facilities, advanced equipment, and efficient design. He noted that the hospital’s concept aligns with international standards and demonstrates the strength and potential of a leading regional medical center.Since the establishment of the “Sino-German Communication Center for Thoracic Surgery” in 2024, the Dept. of Thoracic Surgery at Northern Jiangsu People’s Hospital has made remarkable progress in international cooperation, technical import and talent cultivation. Director Lu shared the achievements of the exchange over the past year on site. Prof. Shu expressed his appreciation for the fruitful outcome of the cooperation and hoped for further deepening the cooperation to build a high-level international platform. During the one-week visit, Prof. Hatz participated in a series of clinical activities, such as outpatient consultation, surgical guidance and tumor boards for lung cancer. He also delivered a lecture on career planning for all the residents at the General Surgery Forum, sharing insights from his decades of career. He encouraged young doctors to plan their career paths early and focus on the improvement of both professional skills and global vision. At the“2nd Workshop on Precision Minimally Invasive Techniques in Thoracic Surgery” held on Saturday, Prof. Hatz gave a lecture on “Surgical Quality and Safety in Thoracic Surgery”. He highlighted the key roles of ERAS concepts, antibiotic stewardship, clinical system digitalization and standardized treatment centers in modern thoracic surgery systems. The attendees expressed that they gained valuable insights and were deeply impressed by Prof. Hatz’s profound expertise and rigorous attitude towards medicine. Throughout his interaction with the hospital’s staff, Prof. Hatz repeatedly expressed his commitment to the growth and development of young doctors. He shared his joy that both of his Chinese doctoral students had successfully received funding from the China Scholarship Council, which reminded him of his own experience as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard, supported by the German Research Foundation. Prof. Hatz emphasized that an international vision and a research mindset are necessary qualities beyond clinical skills for surgeons. He encouraged young doctors to strengthen their language skills, actively engage in international exchanges, and combine career development with a strong sense of responsibility to patients, rather than merely focusing on career promotions. With his outstanding expertise, modest and engaging personality and dedication to medical education, Prof. Hatz earned the deep respect of the thoracic team at Northern Jiangsu People’s Hospital and many attendees of the workshop. His visit not only introduced advanced ideas and international experience but also inspired deep and insightful thinking of the hospital on medical education, research, and clinical quality improvement. Northern Jiangsu People’s Hospital will take this opportunity to further strengthen international cooperation and build a high-level thoracic surgery platform, contributing further to the development of thoracic surgery in China through continuous open exchanges.
