Germany is the birthplace of modern medicine. In the afternoon of June 5th, our special program The World’s Great Doctors officially recorded its new episode at Director of the Department of Cardiology, LMU Klinikum, Prof. Massberg’s office. A colleague from the Dept. of International Public Relations of Gloryren conducted the whole interview with Prof. Massberg in English. Prof. Massberg gave his answer on the spot with a natural response because he hadn’t prepared for any of the questions. When speaking of his profession, he was totally eloquent and confident. Several days before our arrival, Deputy Medical Director Stief of LMU Klinikum had a long talk with Prof. Massberg. Prof. Massberg is meant to be one of the greatest cardiologists in Germany in the future. His scientific and research projects have received funding of 100 million euros. Besides, the hospital has built a new building for the research of his specialty, which will be put into use next year. This is a demonstration of the Federal Government of Germany’s huge investment in the healthcare sector and scientific research. Prof. Massberg is only 53 years old and he can still work for about 20 years. He has a splendid future ahead. For now, he focuses both on clinical work and scientific research. Prof. Massberg is indeed a very reliable key academic leader. He clocks in at 6:00 a.m. at the hospital and works until 8:30 p.m. every day. In the interview, Prof. Massberg told us that tumors have been regarded as the No. 1 killer by many, but actually cardiovascular disease should take the title. Prof. Massberg will welcome his first MD student from Shanghai who has received a scholarship from CSC. He applied for his visa at the Consulate General of Germany in Shanghai on May 15th. I desire to see China possess top hospitals, well-developed specialties, and great doctors in the future.
